Teaching and Research Interests
Dr. Astakhova’s teaching interests include Human Resources Management, Strategic Human Resources Management, Organizational Behavior, Selection, Training, Performance Appraisal, and Quantitative Research Methods. Her research focus is on the areas of person-organization fit, heavy work investment, and organizational sustainability. Astakhova’s research has appeared in the publications of the Journal of Managerial Psychology, the International Journal of Intercultural Relations, and others.
Biography
Dr. Astakhova began her career as a business analyst with TACIS, the program, sponsored by the European Union, that aims to promote the transition to a market economy in the partner states in Eastern Europe and Central Asia. She then worked as an HRM specialist at Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company. Professor Astakhova also spent 10+ years in the educational field teaching at the University level both in Russia and the U.S. She is a member of the Academy of Management and the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology. Professor Astakhova was born and raised in Russia but lived in Ohio for 8 years. She began her career as an Assistant Professor at the University of Texas at Tyler in the Fall of 2012. She is now learning how to be Texan.
