Supporting a Global Campus

The University of Texas at Tyler Office of International Programs strives to provide services that benefit our students, scholars, and faculty, as well as the Tyler and East Texas communities. International programming at UT Tyler began in 2011 to provide quality international study abroad opportunities and experiences; assist foreign faculty and students at UT Tyler; and to expand cultural diversity in Tyler and throughout East Texas.

The Office of International Programs (OIP) leads, champions and serves UT Tyler's mission through several cross-functional units: Study Abroad and Faculty-Led Programs; International Student, Scholar and Faculty Services; International Recruitment and Marketing; and International Research and Engagement. In addition, The UT Tyler Intensive English Language Institute (IELI) opened its doors in September 2013 with two new courses designed to assist non-native English speakers to improve their language and culture skills as well as prepare for university matriculation.

OIP promotes a welcoming and inclusive campus environment for our international students, scholars and visiting faculty from over 35 countries who enhance the diversity of our campus, provide opportunities for cross-cultural interactions, and take part in interactive learning opportunities on our four campuses; middle school students and their teachers at UT Tyler's Innovation Academy; and our entire community.

Our goal is to provide every UT Tyler student with opportunities to develop intentional and transformative multicultural and global competencies, and to better serve the region through our globally competent graduates, strategic international partnerships, and multi-disciplinary research collaborations.

UT Tyler's OIP has a dedicated staff committed to global engagement as a fundamental component of the academic experience, research initiatives, faculty support, and the standing of UT Tyler in Texas, the nation and the world. The OIP team is passionate about transforming lives and making UT Tyler a more culturally diverse community. There are many opportunities and services that the Office of International Programs can assist you with—come visit our office soon!
