Dr. Alisa White (Ph.D., University of Tennessee) serves as Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences and Professor of Communication. Dr. White's professional experience includes media planning and research at a Georgia advertising and public relations firm, part ownership of a Tennessee medium-market radio station, and serving as an editor for Spirit Life books. Dr. White currently serves on the Board of Directors of The Foundation for Advertising Education of the Southwest, 10th District American Advertising Federation. Dr. White's work has been published in the Journal of Advertising Research, the Journal of Broadcasting and Electronic Media, the Journal of Creative Behavior, the Journal of Mass Media Ethics, the Journal of Radio Studies, and the Encyclopedia of the Supreme Court. Her current research focuses on perception of advertising creativity and media ethics.
   
Dr. Jeffrey Hobbs (Ph.D., The University of Kansas) serves as Interim Chair of the Department and Associate Professor of Communication. He is also coach of the university's award winning debate team. Dr. Hobbs, teaches Interviewing, Small Group Communication, Corporate & Legal Advocacy, and Public Communication. Research interests include feminist rhetorical criticism and application of feminist principles to the debate community. His articles have appeared in Restoration Quarterly, The Forensic, Management Communication Quarterly, and Contemporary Argumentation and Debate.
   

Dr. Roger Conaway (Ph.D., Bowling Green State University) serves as Director of Graduate Studies and Professor of Speech Communication. He teaches Organizational Communication, Interpersonal Communication, Listening, and Freedom of Speech. Dr. Conaway is Pirtle Professor of Communication, 2008-2009. Research interests include business communication, intercultural and organizational communication, and interviewing. Dr. Conaway is the co-author of Results-Oriented Interviewing: Principles, Practices, Procedures, 1999 (Allyn & Bacon) and Communicating Globally: Intercultural Communication And International Business, 2007 with Sage Publishers. Professor Conaway is the Current President of the Association for Business Communication. In 2008, Dr. Conaway received the Association for Business Communication Southwest Region "Outstanding Researcher Award." In 2002, he received with William J. Wardrope the Irwin-McGraw-Hill Distinguished Paper Award from the Federation of Business Disciplines. He has presented over 30 professional papers at international, national, and regional conferences and conducted workshops in the areas of interviewing, and intercultural diversity.

   
Dr. Michael E. Eidenmuller (Ph.D., Louisiana State University) serves as Associate Professor of Speech Communication. Dr. Eidenmuller teaches Communication Theory, Religious Communication, Advanced Public Speaking, and Speech Fundamentals. Research interests include the rhetorical theory and criticism of evangelicalism, music and communication, and the interpersonal uses of private prayer. Dr. Eidenmuller is the founder of American Rhetoric: The Power of Oratory in the United States, an internationally-recognized, educational website dedicated to rhetoric & public address. Dr. Eidenmuller is the campus coordinator for the Bill Archer Washington D.C. Fellowship-Internship program. He is also the parliamentarian for the University's Faculty Senate. Currently, he serves on the Religious Communication Association's Executive Board and is an Associate Editor for the Journal of Communication & Religion. Dr. Eidenmuller's book/cd project with McGraw-Hill entitled Great Speeches for Better Speaking is scheduled for publication in June of 2008.
   
Dr. Kyle Huckins (Ph.D., The University of Texas at Austin) serves as Assistant Professor of Journalism. Dr. Huckins teaches History of Mass Media, Mass Media and Society, Writing for the Mass Media, and graduate seminars. Research interests include mass media history, media agenda-setting and religion and media. His research articles have appeared in Journalism & Mass Communication Quarterly, The Media and Religion in American History, and other forums. Huckins has worked in radio, television, print and the Internet, and has won awards for his management, media, and scholarship.
   

Dr. Marsha Little Matthews (Ph.D., The University of Oklahoma) serves as Assistant Professor of Journalism. Dr. Matthews teaches Writing for Mass Media, Writing for Public Relations and Advertising, Principles of Public Relations, Public Relations and Advertising Campaigns, and Media Design. Research interests include meaning making, creativity and loss, the relationship of meaning making and critical thinking, and sense making in public relations/communication campaign development. Articles have appeared in the Journal of the Philosophy and History of Education. She serves as a faculty Senator representing the College of Arts and Sciences and also serves as Secretary for the University Faculty Senate.

   
   

Ms. Vanessa Curry (MSIS, The University of Texas at Tyler) serves as Lecturer of Journalism and adviser to the award-winning Patriot Talon, the student newspaper at UT Tyler. In the past seven years Talon staff members have won more than 100 awards from the Texas Intercollegiate Press Association. In 2007, Ms. Curry was named TIPA Adviser of the Year. She also has appeared on A&E's City Confidential and Court TV's Forensic Files as a media expert on the Baker Steven Lucas murder trial. Her research on government compliance with the Texas Public Information Act has earned her the FOI Award and Sweepstakes Award from the Texas Associated Press Managing Editors and the James Madison Award from the Freedom of Information Foundation of Texas.
