Admission
Requirements
All requirements listed in the official catalog of The University
of Texas at Tyler which include:
Minimum Graduate Record Examination score of 1000 or 1200
with a aggregate score computed as Verbal Ability + Quantitative
Ability or Analytical Ability + 100 x GPA Minimum grade-point
average of 2.5 on last 60 hours of upper division course
work and 3.0 on all graduate work
Degree Requirements
All requirements listed in the official catalog of The University
of Texas at Tyler which include:
Total of 36 semester hours of graduate work
Minimum of 12 semester credit hours in a first field and
six in each of two other fields
Minimum grade-point average of 3.0 in each of three selected
fields and in all graduate work
No course with a grade below "C" may apply toward
this degree
Successful completion of a written, comprehensive examination
over the three fields of study shown in the degree plan
Time Limitation: Degree requirements must be completed within
a six-year period including graduate credit transferred
from another institution. |

B. S. degree requirements in journalism are the same as
those for the B. A. degree except instead of a foreign language
requirement, the student is required to take six hours of
mathematics, science, economics, geography and/or computer
science, in addition to those otherwise counted as lower-division
preparation. These six hours may be taken at the lower-
or upper-division. |

| Journalism
as a minor |
| Journalism
may be chosen as a minor to satisfy bachelor degree programs
with majors in other fields. This program requires 18 hours
of journalism, 12 of which must be advanced. Courses are
selected by the student in consultation with a member of
the Department of Communication. |
