BACHELOR OF ARTS DEGREE REQUIREMENTS IN SPEECH COMMUNICATION
Total Semester Credit Hours=124

The B.A. degree in speech communication requires the completion of 124 hrs. as follows:

A. University Core Curriculum (47 hrs.)
B. A minimum grade of "C" in each speech communication course
C. Thirty-six semester hours of speech communication, 21 of which must be advanced, and at least 12 upper division hours in the major must be taken at this university:

BACHELOR OF SCIENCE DEGREE REQUIREMENTS IN SPEECH COMMUNICATION
Total Semester Credit Hours=124

The B.S. degree requirements in speech communication are the same as those for the B.A. degree except that instead of a foreign language requirement, the student is required to take six hours of mathematics, science, economics, geography and/or computer science, in addition to those otherwise counted as lower-division preparation. These six hours may be taken at the lower- or upper-division.

SPEECH COMMUNICATION AS A MINOR
Speech communication may be chosen as a minor to satisfy certain bachelor degree programs with majors in other fields. This program consists of 18 semester hours in speech communication, at least nine of which must be advanced.

TEACHER CERTIFICATION
Candidates for elementary teaching certificates should pursue the Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies or a standard academic major related to the Texas public schools curriculum. Candidates for secondary teaching certificates should pursue a standard academic major. For other certification requirements, consult the College of Education and Psychology section of this catalog.
