Service Learning

Service-learning (SL) allows students to apply academic learning objectives  by involving students in organized community service that address local needs, while developing their sense of civic responsibility, and strengthening their commitment to the community.

 

Four basic components to Service Learning:

  1. Integrates learning outcomes
  2. Offers Relevant solutions to the needs of the community
  3. Provides Reciprocal benefits for both the student and the community
  4. Includes Reflection on impact of project on the growth of the student and Evaluates the outcomes
