Compliance/Ethics
Line
The objective of the
Compliance/Ethics Line is to provide a confidential way for employees to report instances of suspected
non-compliance such as fraud, theft, or other unethical behavior in the
workplace and to report issues of questionable accounting, internal
accounting controls, or auditing matters. Employees should use the
Compliance/Ethics Line when they are not satisfied
with their supervisors’ response to a compliance issue or if they fear
retaliation by their supervisors. Under
normal circumstances, however, compliance issues should be addressed
through normal administrative channels.
Note: The
Compliance Program is not intended for handling employee grievances,
such as complaints concerning working conditions, performance
evaluations, hours of work, wages, or merit raises, and only
compliance-related issues will be investigated.

Process.
The Compliance/Ethics line is answered by a contracted company.
The information is taken from the caller and a report is sent to three
designated University employees within one business day.
Confidentiality.
Employees who call the Compliance/Ethics Line may remain anonymous.
If the caller requests anonymity, no attempt shall be made to
identify the caller.
Information provided by the caller shall be treated as
confidential and privileged to the extent permitted by applicable law.
Non-retaliation.
Employees who call the hotline shall not be retaliated against. On
the other hand, employees who intentionally and maliciously use the
hotline to make false allegations shall be subject to disciplinary
actions.

Alternative reporting method:
UT Tyler employees can also report suspected non-compliance
issues and remain anonymous through the US mail. If using this
method, be specific and provide details
regarding the issue in question.
