The Department of Computer Science at The University of Texas at Tyler offers comprehensive programs to prepare students for work in a wide variety of computing environments.

The department offers the bachelor of science in computer science, bachelor of science in computer information systems and master of science in computer science, and supports secondary teacher certification in computer science and technology applications. Computer science also can be chosen as a minor to satisfy bachelor's degree programs with majors in other fields.

With a B.S. degree in computer science from UT Tyler, you will be well prepared to model, simulate and solve computational problems and produce systems to serve the needs of business, industry, government, education and other entities in the professional world.

UT Tyler graduates with a B.S. degree in computer information systems are equipped to excel as information systems professionals. You will possess the skills, knowledge and experience to investigate and analyze business problems and provide reliable and secure computerized solutions.

Computer science and computer information systems students receive individualized instruction from UT Tyler faculty with extensive experience as computing professionals. You will have opportunities to be creative through design projects and independent study and to work in real-world computing and information technology environments through the Computer Science Cooperative Program.

Students in UT Tyler's computer science M.S. degree program learn to become more competent and productive in professional computing environments and are well prepared for further graduate study. The program is oriented toward design, implementation and application of computer software. A variety of software is studied, from compilers to operating, database and real-time systems.
