The purpose of a system of peer observation of teaching is to honor the importance of teaching by providing formative feedback designed to strengthen teaching at The University of Texas at Tyler. The university recognizes the essential contribution of its faculty members to the quality of students' education and learning experiences and supports faculty development in all aspects of instruction. Peer observation of teaching is a constructive and open process intended to foster a culture of teaching excellence through collegial dialogue. The University of Texas System values peer observation of teaching and requires evidence of peer observation of teaching in all cases for promotion and tenure.
