Biography

Jennifer Reynolds is a native East Texan and joined the faculty of The University of Texas at Tyler in the Fall of 2014. Prior to entering academia, she served as the CFO for a nonprofit, as Controller/VP of Finance for a large, independent pharmacy, and in tax accounting at various public accounting firms.

Jennifer has a Master’s in Taxation from the University of Texas at Arlington and holds an active Certified Public Accountants license in Texas. She is a member of the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants (TSCPA) and the Texas Distance Learning Association (TxDLA).

Jennifer received the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants Outstanding Educator Award for 2023.  Jennifer has also received the Soules College of Business Outstanding Faculty Award for Service in 2020 and the Soules College of Business Outstanding Faculty Award for Teaching in 2018. Her teaching philosophy incorporates her desire to ignite a passion for business in her students and how that passion can be used to make the world a better place.

Jennifer enjoys actively serving her community through various community service projects with her students as well as serving on the board of directors and volunteering with various local nonprofits. She is the mother of one biological child and surrogate mom to hundreds of college students!  She enjoys traveling with her family, reading, and playing with her dogs.

Teaching and Research Interests

Financial Accounting with an emphasis on the introductory Principles of Accounting course which leads students to fall in love with accounting, Individual Income Tax, Corporate and Partnership Taxation, and Personal Finance.
