Biography

SUE BUGG, a native of Gilmer, Texas, is a retired band director, having taught public school in the East Texas area for 37 years. Her education includes a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Stephen F. Austin State University and a Master of Music Education from East Texas State University. 

Performance venues have included the Tyler Chamber Orchestra, East Texas Symphony, Texas Shakespeare Festival, Inspiration Point Fine Arts Colony, Longview Symphony Orchestra, and many musical productions in the Tyler/Kilgore/Longview area.  

She has also served as judge of the All Region, Area, and State TMEA flute auditions for 20 years, and her private flute students have garnered positions in all levels of the competition since 1980.  

Mrs. Bugg taught band for Greenville ISD, Jacksonville ISD, and Tyler ISD, served as adjunct flute instructor at Tyler Junior College, and assistant conductor of the Tyler Youth Orchestra.  She is presently adjunct instructor at the University of Texas in Tyler, East Texas Baptist University, a private flute instructor, flute clinician for area schools, and serves as orchestral contractor for Marvin United Methodist Church.
