Mr. Chen joined The University of Texas at Tyler in 2009. As an international advisor for UT Tyler, he is a Designated School Official (DSO) for F Program activities and serves as a back-up advisor. He also assists with developing student workshops, new student orientations, supporting campus departments, and monitoring immigration policies to ensure compliance across campus.
Mr. Chen leads all international faculty H-1B petitions and petitions for obtaining U.S. lawful permanent resident (LPR) status, and facilitates recruitment and international partnership development for UT Tyler's collaborative universities. As the Alternate Responsible Officer (ARO) for J Program activities, he also serves as a back-up advisor for visiting scholars under J category visas.
Mr. Chen holds a B.A. in English Language and Literature from Jiangxi Normal University in China and an M.S. in library, media and information technologies leadership from the University of Central Arkansas. His family is from China and he has also traveled to Italy, France, Germany and Japan. Mr. Chen speaks Chinese and English.
