Mr. Torrey Wang joined The University of Texas at Tyler in 2017. As an International
advisor, Mr. Wang is a Designated School Official (DSO) for F Program activities,
responsible for advising all F-1 international students whose last names begin with
A native of Tyler, Torrey’s cross-cultural experiences were acquired early in his youth, during which he lived in Hong Kong, Singapore and Taiwan as a K-6 student before moving back to Tyler at age 11. He is fluent in English and proficient in Mandarin Chinese. Prior to UT Tyler, Torrey coordinated international admissions and advised F-1/2 students on academic, employment and immigration matters at Indiana University South Bend (2015-17), where he was a Designated School Official (DSO) and staff advisor to the International Student Organization. From 2010 to 2014, Torrey taught philosophy of law and intro to philosophy as a teaching assistant at the University of Notre Dame, where he had been a doctoral student of philosophy.
In all, Torrey's secondary and post-secondary schooling comprises institutes which span all four U.S. census regions: Northeast (Rutgers University – BA, 2010 ); Midwest (University of Notre Dame – MA, 2013); South (Robert E. Lee High School – Diploma, 2005); West (Brigham Young University, 2006-7).
