UT Tyler School of Education
Initial Certification Programs
The School of Education offers multiple solutions for candidates interested in becoming an educator (initial teacher certification). Being an educator is a fantastic profession! It is the profession that shapes all other professions, touches the future, and one can only imagine the amazing potential of the students in your classroom. Teaching is not just a job – it is a profession with a mission!!
The job outlook for educators in East Texas is improving! School districts are hiring new teachers and this past summer, the School of Education received phone calls and emails seeking elementary bilingual teachers, middle and high school Spanish teachers, and high school teachers in all science, mathematics, and English.
Students seeking teaching positions along the I-35 corridor in Dallas, Austin, and San Antonio need to understand that there are many qualified applicants in these areas and it can be more challenging to find teaching positions there. However, there are teaching positions available in rural areas, East Texas, West Texas and more!
We are pleased to offer the following options:
- Early Childhood through Sixth Grade/ESL/Special Education Certification
- Grades 4 – 8 Math and Science Certification (UTeach)
- All Level Certification
- Secondary Math and Science (UTeach)
