UT Tyler

Health Care Administration (Executive MPA) at UT Tyler

Curriculum and Degree Requirements

In order to graduate from the Executive Health Care Administration (EHCA) MPA Program, a student must complete all courses with a GPA of no less than 3.0 on the 4.0 scale with no more than one C and no F's.

Each student is required to take a capstone course in their last semester. At the end of this course, every student will submit in writing and give an oral defense of an approved case to a panel of faculty members. This written case and oral defense serves as the University's required comprehensive examination.

Because of the integrated structure of the curriculum and the nature of cohorted education, no courses or credit may be transferred into UT Tyler for use toward the degree requirements. Regardless of previous experience or academic work, all EHCA MPA students must take all required courses in the required sequence and at the required time.

Graduation Requirements

All candidates for the Executive Health Care Administration concentration must also meet the following requirements:

  • A cumulative grade point average of 3.0 (4.0 basis) on all work taken for graduate credit. No course with a grade below "C" may be applied toward this degree.
  • Satisfactory performance on the final project and oral defense of the project in EHCA 5371: Healthcare Capstone. Any student who fails the oral component may, upon recommendation of the Graduate Coordinator, be granted permission to take a second examination. Upon failing the second examination, the student will be dropped from the program.
