The University of Texas at Tyler Employee Handbook
EMPLOYEE ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is provided as a service to employees by CASE Management located at 4801 Troup Highway, Suite 301. It is designed to provide professional, confidential counseling assistance to employees and/or their immediate family who are experiencing personal problems. The program offers initial counseling and referral services for employees and their immediate family who are confronted with alcoholism or alcohol abuse; drug abuse (legal or illegal substances); emotional problems; stress or life crisis; family problems; and/or financial/legal problems. Professionally trained EAP counselors are available to talk to employees confidentially, help them assess their needs, and make appropriate referrals to counseling resources in the local community.
UT Tyler employees and their immediate families may use the program at any time. Employees are encouraged to contact a counselor whenever they are experiencing personal problems which may be affecting job performance. In addition, supervisor and management personnel may seek the guidance of a counselor to determine the appropriateness of referring employees who may be experiencing personal problems which affect work performance or may make a direct supervisory referral.
There is no charge for the services of EAP. Fees charged by outside referral agencies are the responsibility of the individual or may be covered by health insurance.
