PERFORMANCE APPRAISALS
Failure to maintain an overall rating of ‘satisfactory performance’ may result in disciplinary action including termination. Performance appraisals are maintained in the employee files in Human Resources. Performance appraisals allow for a periodic review of the performance of employees so meaningful and productive assessments can be determined relating to strengths and weaknesses in carrying out duties, assignments, and responsibilities; attainment of performance goals and growth in professional or vocational skills.
All benefits-eligible (50% time or more) probationary employees must be evaluated at the completion of six (6) months of service. A three-month appraisal is also recommended for probationary employees. Three-month appraisals are performed for benefits-eligible employees at the departmental level and the appraisals are kept in the employee’s department. All other benefits-eligible employees must be evaluated annually.
