SEXUAL HARASSMENT

It is the policy of The University of Texas at Tyler that all employees have a right to work in an environment free from any type of discrimination, including sexual harassment. For purposes of this policy, sexual harassment is defined as: unwelcome sexual advances, request for sexual favors, and other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature when:

  1. Submission to such conduct is made either explicitly or implicitly as a term or condition of an individual’s employment;
  2. Submission to or rejection of such conduct by an individual is used as the basis for employment decisions affecting such individual; or
  3. Such conduct has the purpose of or effect of unreasonably interfering with an individual’s work performance or creating an intimidating, hostile, or offensive working environment.

Any employee who feels he/she has been subjected to sexual harassment is encouraged to utilize the institutional services outlined in the Sexual Harassment Policy in the Handbook of Operating Procedures. Employees are also encouraged to tell the offending party that the behavior is offensive.
