JURY/WITNESS DUTY
An employee may be called for jury duty or subpoenaed to serve as a witness in a court proceeding in which he/she is not a party. Should official notice be received, notify your supervisor immediately. Time off will be given for scheduled work which began on the day(s) required to serve. An employee should obtain a record of time served and submit it to his/her supervisor.
An employee will receive his/her regular salary and jury/witness duty time will not be deducted from vacation or other accrued allowances. Should an employee be called as a witness in an official University capacity, he/she may not receive any witness fees. Should an employee testify as a witness other than in an official capacity, witness fee may be received. However, an employee cannot simultaneously receive regular salary and witness fees. An employee may elect to take vacation leave or leave without pay when serving as a paid witness.
