International Student Scholarship Options
Students may not receive more than one academic scholarship award from the University each semester.
Students who meet the criteria below will be considered for a Junior College Transfer
Presidential Scholarship. This scholarship is for students who have previously
attended junior or community colleges only!
Scholarship funds are limited and are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.
Transfer Presidential Scholarship
Award Amount: up to $2,000 per year
To qualify students must:
- Be accepted for admission by May 1st.
- Be incoming junio/community college transfer student who has completed four
regular semesters as a full-time student or a minimum of 59 semester hours.
- Enroll for a minimum of 12 credit hours each semester (Fall and Spring) at UT Tyler.
- Have a cumulative 3.3 GPA on all junior/community college course work.
To renew scholarship student must:
- Complete 12 credit hours at UT Tyler for the semester(s) awarded.
- Maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA at UT Tyler.
Junior College Transfer Presidential Scholarships are renewable for one academic year following the initial award. No application is required for renewal.
- New Graduate Scholarship
Students who meet the criteria below will be considered for a New Graduate Scholarship.
Scholarship funds are limited and are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.
New Graduate Scholarship
Award Amount: up to $1,000 per year
To qualify, students must:
- Be accepted for admission for graduate studies at UT Tyler by May 1st
- Be accepted to a graduate program by May 1st
- Have an undergraduate GPA of at least 3.25
- Enroll for a minimum of 9 credit hours each semester (Fall and Spring) at UT Tyler.
- College Scholarships (Returning Students)
There are several individual and endowed scholarships awarded by the various colleges of
University. They range in criteria, requirements and amounts.
College Scholarships do not automatically renew and require re-application
annually.
Scholarship eligibility will be considered based on information provided on the on-line
scholarship application (i.e. planned enrollment, essay, etc...).
Scholarship funds are limited and are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.

- Deadline for submission of College Scholarship Application:
- Fall: April 1st
- Spring: November 1st
- Summer: April 15th
Tuition Waivers for International Students
To allow a public institution to grant a waiver of non-resident tuition charges to
individuals who receive scholarships totaling at least $1,000 awarded by their institution
in competition open both to residents and to non-residents.
To permit an individual employed at least half-time by a public institution of higher
education as a research or teaching assistant, and his/her spouse and children, to enroll
in public institutions in Texas while paying the resident tuition rate.
