WORK-STUDY PROGRAMS
Our work-study programs provide part-time employment in community
service areas, reading and math tutor programs, or the various
departments of the University to undergraduate and graduate
students. Awards for these programs are made on a first-come-first
serve basis. Available jobs will be posted through the Office of Career
Services. Directions for obtaining a job through the work-study
program can be found on the UT Tyler website. Funds and jobs for
this program are limited. Students interested in the work-study
program should request consideration before accepting student
loan offers.
The work-study program includes need-based funding from federal and
state. In addition,
the Working to Success program also includes a non-need based
element which will provide work-study assistance for students who
would not normally qualify for work-study due to either a lack of financial
need or exhausted need based funding. Federal and state work-study
programs require at least half-time enrollment while the Working to
Success Program requires full-time enrollment.
Students who are interested in the work-study program must complete
the Free Application for Federal Student Aid to be eligible for consideration
under all programs. Students who are awarded work-study may contact UT Tyler Career Services to secure employment. Pay rates
are set by the employing departments and are based on job functions
and skill levels. Work-study employees may work up to 19.5 hours per
week throughout the semester. For any questions concerning workstudy
contact the Financial Aid Office.
