The Office of Graduate Studies at UT Tyler provides these links to external graduate fellowships, stipends, and grants as a service to our graduate students. Be sure to visit the Financial Aid webpage and the Office Of Sponsored Research's webpage for more funding resources.

The links under Databases allow you to set search parameters to find only the opportunities in which you're interested. The Website links offer more general information and opportunities, while the Fellowship links are to graduate fellowship opportunities, offering basic information about fellowships that might be available for graduate study. Several Books that provide access to sources of education-related financial aid for students are available in the Robert R. Muntz Library on the Tyler campus.

FastWeb

FastWeb is a searchable database of more than 400,000 private sector scholarships, fellowships, grants, and loans from more than 3,000 sources for all levels of higher education. First-time visitors have to register (first and last name and a user ID), then complete a profile, including background and fields of study. Registrants then receive a list of all currently relevant funding sources.

University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) Graduate and Postdoctoral Extramural Support (GRAPES) Database
The GRAPES database catalogs extramural funding opportunities of interest to prospective and current graduate students, students working on a master's thesis or doctoral dissertation, and postdoctoral scholars. It contains information on over 500 private and publicly funded awards, fellowships, and internships. Advanced search options allow users to refine their search by field, academic level, award type, award amount, and other criteria.

The AAUW Educational Foundation is the largest source of funding in the world exclusively for graduate women. The AAUW awards dissertation fellowships to women doctoral candidates, as well as a variety of other fellowships for women faculty.

Collegiate Inventors Competition
Introduced in 1990, the Collegiate Inventors Competition has recognized, rewarded, and encouraged hundreds of students to share their inventive ideas with the world. The Competition promotes exploration in invention, science, engineering, technology, and other creative endeavors and provides a window on the technologies from which society will benefit in the future.

e-Scholar
The e-Scholar website provides information about hundreds of federally-funded education scholarships, fellowships, grants, internships, and cooperative programs valued at more than $400 million. The site contains information for both students - from high school students through doctoral students - and career professionals.


Finding and Applying for Grant Opportunities (HUD)

 

Hispanic Scholarship Fund

The scholarships are available on a competitive basis for community college, four-year college, and graduate students of Hispanic heritage. Awards generally range from $1000 to $3,000. Minimum GPA of 2.7 is required.


National Science Foundation Specialized Information for Graduate Students

The programs listed on this site provide either direct (i.e., from NSF) or indirect (i.e., from an awardee institution) funding for students at this level or identify programs that focus on educational developments for this group such as curricula development, training or retention.

NOAA Student Opportunities Graduate Sciences Program

The Graduate Sciences Program (GSP) is aimed primarily at increasing opportunities for students in NOAA-related fields to pursue research and educational training in atmospheric, environmental, remote sensing and oceanic sciences at minority serving institutions (MSI) when possible.

(Mary Louise) Roller Panhellenic Scholarship

The Mary Louise Roller Panhellenic Scholarship is an annual award of $1,000 awarded to an undergraduate woman who plans to attend graduate school the following fall.

Intercollegiate Studies Institute Graduate Fellowships Program
Available Fellowships:

  • The ISI Richard M. Weaver Fellowship pays tuition at the school attended by the recipient, a stipend of $5,000, and awards $1,000 in ISI Books. More than 400 Weaver graduate fellowships have been granted since the program's inception in 1964.
  • The ISI Western Civilization Fellowship awards each recipient $20,000 for graduate work related to Western Civilization studies. Two of these graduate fellowships are awarded annually.
  • The ISI Salvatori Fellowship provides $10,000 to each awardee for graduate work related to the American Founding. Two of these graduate fellowships are awarded annually.
  • In addition to the above fellowships for graduate students, ISI awards an undergraduate fellowship each year. Graduating college seniors interested in the William E. Simon Fellowship for Noble Purpose are invited to apply.

National Defense Science and Engineering (NDSEG) Fellowship Program
The U.S. Department of Defense is offering 90 NDSEG scholarships of $20,000 each to eligible graduate students in the science and engineering disciplines. Restricted to U.S. citizens or nationals.

Soros Fellowship For New Americans (Paul and Daisy)
Provides support for new Americans - naturalized U.S. citizen, child of two parents who are both naturalized U.S. citizens, or a resident alien who holds a Green Card. Full support is given for two years of graduate study in the United States. Fellows receive a $20,000 maintenance grant and a tuition grant of one-half the tuition cost of graduate program.


University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana Graduate College Fellowship Opportunities

Zonta International Amelia Earhart Fellowships
The Zonta International Foundation established this award to honor famed air pioneer and Zontian, Amelia Earhart. The award is for women who have completed at least one year of graduate study in an area of science or engineering which is closely related to advanced studies in the aerospace-related sciences. While often thought of as award just for those studying aerospace sciences, awards have been made for graduate study in such fields as aerospace, engineering, astronomy, astrophysics, biomedical engineering, computer science, fluid mechanics, geological oceanography, meteorology, molecular biology and space medicine. Therefore, this grant supports a wider range of study than commonly thought. Thirty-three to thirty-five grants of $6000 each are made yearly.

(Bill) Raskob Foundation
A small family foundation set up to give deserving students undergraduate and graduate loans with no interest. It funds over one hundred applicants a year.


(Evalee C.) Schwarz Charitable Trust for Education
A trust created to give 0% interest loans to deserving graduate and undergraduate students.
