Candace MosquedaStudent Name: Candace Mosqueda

Program: Master's of Curriculum and Instruction

Hometown: Dallas, TX

Undergraduate Institution: UT Tyler

Graduation Year: 2013

Why did you choose to attend UT Tyler?

I received my BS of Interdisciplinary Studies from UT Tyler in 2013. I immediately entered the teaching profession after graduation and felt extremely prepared for the challenges of my career. UT Tyler made sure I was prepared to teach a classroom full of children, so I knew they were the right choice to continue my education. I knew the faculty from when I previously attended and knew they were amazing, but I was more surprised that they remembered me too. It felt like being welcomed back home.

What are your career goals and how does your graduate program support them?

My career goals are to become an instructional coach. I often found myself in leadership positions and mentoring other teachers and I recognized that I loved it! I would like to stay in the classroom a little bit longer, but I know that the path for the future is to take a step out of the classroom and coach full time. I enjoy watching others succeed and growing their practice, because in the end it achieves student success.

What do you like most about UT Tyler?

UT Tyler always felt like home. Even though my masters degree is solely online, I still feel connected to my peers and professors...even all the way from Germany! We are a community that helps one another, so that we all succeed.
