Educational Leadership

Student Name:  Monica M. Goffney

Program: Educational Leadership

Hometown: Houston, TX

Undergraduate Institution: Dillard University, in New Orleans, LA

Graduation Year: 2015

Why did you choose to attend UT Tyler?

I chose to attend the University of Texas at Tyler because I wanted to be challenged. I did the research to find the best fit for my life style and what I wanted to gain from any University after completion. UTT was the best fit - I have been challenged, and (aside from a few adjustments) it has not interrupted my family life.

I believe that my professors have made me think outside of the box, research like never before, and apply the knowledge even before I graduate in the Spring 2015.

What are your career goals and how does your graduate program support them?

I plan to become an Assistant Principal or Principal, and (much later in life) become a college Professor. My courses have afforded me the opportunity to be introduced to the, "behind the scenes" view of what it takes to be a leader and manager in education.

What do you like most about UT Tyler?

I love the UTT reputation and what it stands for: "A centerpiece for learning, culture and natural beauty." It also ranks above the rest for making education accessible to anyone who desires to fulfill one of their dreams, like me!
