Graduate International Student Admissions
Applicants must hold, or expect to hold prior to the beginning of classes, a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited US institution or hold a comparable degree from a recognized academic institution outside the US.
Applicants should send official transcripts or marks sheets as well as diplomas and/or degree certificates directly to the Office of Graduate Admission.
Applicants with transcripts from academic institutions outside the US must also submit a detailed course-by-course international transcript evaluation. An international transcript evaluation determines an applicant's degree comparability to a US bachelor's degree. UT Tyler does not evaluate international transcripts.
International transcript evaluations are accepted by the following service providers:
- World Education Services (WES)
- JSA Joseph Silny & Associates, Inc.
- International Education Research Foundation
- International Academic Credential Evaluators
- Global Credential Evaluators, Inc. (GCE)
- Educational Credential Evaluators, Inc.
- Span Tran
For Computer Science, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Mechanical Engineering, an official English evaluation of the transcript may be waived. Visit the Evaluation Needed? link to see if you qualify for a waiver. For all other programs, accompanying the application must be an official English evaluation of the transcripts if the academic transcripts are from a foreign institution.
UT Tyler may offer ECE evaluation fee waivers to those in Temporary Protected Status (TPS), refugee or asylum status, special immigrant status, extreme hardship, or those with a general lack of funds/scholarships due to unavoidable circumstances. Please contact IGS@uttyler.edu for more information.
