Greek Councils
The University of Texas at Tyler is home to 6 national Greek-letter fraternities and sororities. These fraternities and sororities are governed on campus by councils that are comprised of current active members in the represented groups. These councils are the College Panhellenic Council (CPC), Interfraternity Council (IFC), and the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC).

College Panhellenic Council (CPC)
The College Panhellenic Council (CPC) governs the Panhellenic Association at UT Tyler, which includes women's fraternal organizations recognized nationally by the National Panhellenic Conference (NPC). Founded in 1902, NPC is the national governing body for the 26 women’s fraternities and sororities. Three NPC sororites are active on the UT Tyler campus: Alpha Chi Omega, Delta Gamma, and Gamma Phi Beta. The CPC and its executive board establish and maintain the constitution and bylaws for the chapters, plan formal recruitment, and maintain order within the sorority community.
"The mission of UT Tyler's Panhellenic Association is to provide an organization through which the sororities can work collaboratively in the efforts to unite and promote Greek Life, to contribute positively to campus life, and to effect change constructively within the community. Our goal is to foster inter-fraternity relationships, to assist collegiate chapters of the NPC member groups, and to cooperate with the University in maintaining the highest scholastic and social standards. We continually strive to promote values, education, leadership, friendships, cooperation, and citizenship.

National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC)
The National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) is the national governing body for the nine historically African American fraternities and sororities and was founded at Howard University in 1913. UT Tyler saw Delta Sigma Theta, an NPHC sorority, colonize in the Spring 2007 semester and is hoping to bring additional NPHC groups to campus soon.
Men or women desiring membership in an NPHC organization must first attend interest meetings hosted by the chapter to learn about requirements for membership. Once general requirements are met, students are then encouraged to attend membership intake events, which is their recruitment process. Each NPHC group usually recruits at different times of the year, so interested students should contact the organization directly to obtain more information.
