The department's undergraduate and graduate programs provide each student the opportunity to pursue a broad based liberal arts education that best suits individual intellectual interests and career goals. Programs are designed for careers in a variety of fields, including elementary, secondary, and higher education; law; the ministry; library and archival work; and government.
Historians Will:
1. Apply critical thinking and historical reasoning to solve contemporary problems.
2. Design and implement appropriate research methodologies.
3. Convey the results of their scholarly inquiries in effective oral and written communication.
4. Display competency in understanding cultural, political, social, intellectual, technological, and economic transformations across time in United States, Western, and Global settings, and an appreciation of the consequences of change.
