Department Highlights

• The Department of Health and Kinesiology is a participating member of the American Council on Exercise's Educational Partnership Program.  As part of this partnership our curriculum prepares students to sit for the American Council on Exercise's Personal Training Certification Exam.  This partnership will give our students the significant competitive advantage they deserve for professional/graduate school applications and job placement.
• A new Capstone Experience offering students the opportunity to intern in the career area of their choice.  This is perfect for students to showcase their knowledge as well as gain excellent experiences that are sure to provide a value added component to any resume or professional/graduate school application.
• The Department has 2+2 Articulation Agreements with Tyler Junior College for the BS in Kinesiology, BS in Kinesiology-Athletic Training, BS Health Sciences.
• The Department has revised the curriculum for the BS Health Sciences, BS Kinesiology, BS Kinesiology-Athletic Training and MS Kinesiology programs to better represent the skill sets required for successful graduate/professional school and job placement.
• The Department participates with other University of Texas institutions in a National Award Winning Online Master's Degree Program.  We are one of four degree granting institutions offering this degree through the UT Telecampus. 
• The Department collaborates with Trinity-Mother Frances, Azalea Orthopedics and East Texas Medical Center Athletic Training Programs.  We have built a strong relationship with the outstanding Medical Facilities and look forward to a continued partnership.

• The Department has excellent (though limited in number) graduate teaching and research assistantships.  Please see Graduate Assistantships.
• A 2009 student survey indicated that over 90% of UT Tyler Health and Kinesiology Students were satisfied to very satisfied with their experiences while here at UT Tyler.  Here are just a few comments from the survey:
