A degree in Construction
Management prepares graduates to oversee the entire range of
construction operations on a project, from start to finish. Their
education will allow them to be involved in commercial and
residential construction. Most construction managers are not
involved in the actual building; they supervise and direct the
construction project.
Construction management majors learn about structural design,
mechanical and electrical systems, materials and methods, planning,
cost estimating, procuring contracts, labor relations, and more. All
majors learn to read and create architectural blueprints so they can
coordinate all facets of the construction project.
There are excellent job opportunities in the field of construction management. The median annual salary of construction managers is approximately $70,000 and the demand for these talented individuals is on the rise.
