Narrative Biography:

 
 

Dr. Miller currently serves as the coordinator for the Industrial Technology undergraduate program and the Industrial Management graduate program. He also serves as the advisor for the Surveying and Mapping program. Since Dr. Miller’s appointment at UT Tyler, he has established a new graduate program in Industrial Management, authored the proposal that led to a new undergraduate program in Construction Management, and coordinated and set up a new advanced manufacturing laboratory.  Prior to his appointment at UT Tyler, he was the chairman of the Industrial Technology Department at Texas A&M University-Kingsville.  While chair, he tripled the department’s enrollment and established their first graduate program.  Dr. Miller also reactivated the department’s honor society after 45 years of inactivity. 

Over the years, Dr. Miller has written or revised more than 20 textbooks in the field of technology.  He has also published a number of refereed articles and has made numerous presentations at various national conferences.  Dr. Miller has also obtained over a half million dollars in new equipment and software grants. 

Dr. Miller serves on the National Association of Industrial Technology (NAIT) Board of Certification where he recently developed a study guide for the organization’s certification exam.  He also serves as a reviewer of the organization’s conference papers and proceedings. Dr. Miller was recently elected the Chair-Elect for the Manufacturing Division of NAIT. Throughout the years, Dr. Miller has served on the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME) Student Relations Subcommittee. He currently is the faculty advisor for the university’s student chapters of NAIT and SME.
