December 9, 2008

Dr. Greg Wang and Dr. Rita Dobbs, associate professors of human resource development at The University of Texas at Tyler, have co-edited the December 2008 issue of the Advances in Developing Human Resources Journal, Dr. Jim Tarter, College of Business and Technology dean, announced.

An internationally refereed and recognized journal sponsored and published by the Academy of Human Resource Development, it features topics and articles that are chosen by editors through a competitive process. The text provides a central focus for reporting on sound theory and practice within topical areas of interests in the field.

The issue, which focuses on the economic foundation of human resource development, also includes work by other UT Tyler faculty, including Dr. Richard Swanson, distinguished research professor of human resource development; Dr. Paul Roberts, associate professor of human resource development; Dr. Vivek Pandey, associate professor of finance; Dr. Clayton Allen, professor and School of Human Resource Development and Technology dean; Dr. Mary Fischer, professor of accounting, as well as UT Tyler graduate student Judy Sun.

“This is a significant achievement for this team and a real positive indication of the scholarly reputation of our faculty,” said Tarter.

Wang holds a Ph.D. in human resource development from Pennsylvania State University. A UT Tyler faculty member since 2007, he currently serves on the AHRD Board of Directors. His research, teaching and practice within human resource development have been focused on the economic foundation and assessment of the profession as well as the comparative policy issues of human resource development at the organizational and national levels.

A UT Tyler faculty member since 1998, Dobbs holds a Ph.D. in human resource development with an emphasis in educational administration from Texas A&M University. Her memberships include the AHRD, American Society of Training Directors and Society of Human Resource Management. Dobbs also helped established the Ph.D. in human resource development for the UT Tyler School of Human Resource Development and Technology.

AHRD is a global organization consisting of, governed by and created for the human resource development scholarly community of academics and reflective practitioners.
