UT Tyler Set To Offer New Degree Beginning This Fall
Tyler Morning Telegraph
August 4, 2007

The University of Texas at Tyler will offer a new Bachelor of Science degree with a major in construction management beginning this fall, Dr. Clayton Allen, UT Tyler Human Resource Development and Technology Department chair, announced.

The new construction management degree program will provide students with managerial and practical knowledge with which to enter into the work force.

"With expected increases in the number of civil engineering, commercial and residential construction projects both nationally and locally, there is a growing need for qualified managers within the industry," Allen said. "This degree provides an exciting new opportunity to those students seeking a career in the field of construction."

UT Tyler estimates approximately 30 students to officially enroll in the program its first year. Currently, more than 30 students are taking course work that will apply toward a construction management degree.

Construction management is a large and vastly diverse industry that requires professionals to be responsible for the planning, coordinating and supervising of large scale projects.

For more information or to enroll, call the UT Tyler HRD and Technology Department at 903-566-7310.
