Step 1 -
Complete a Career Development Plan
You must present a Career Development Plan (often called a,
“deficiency plan”) in order to be hired by a school district
in order to teach Career and Technology Education courses. Please
note that an individual can be hired to teach while completing the
requirements stated on the Career Development Plan.
In order for the
University
of
Texas at Tyler
to initiate and process your Career Development Plan you must:
a.
Complete and submit a Statement of Qualifications (SOQ).
Enter, “Trade and Industrial Education” on line 4 of the SOQ.

b.
Provide copies of all college and university transcripts
c.
Provide copies of applicable certifications or licensures
Note: If you do not hold a registration, certification or
license awarded by a professionally recognized national agency, you will be
required to take the National Occupational Competency Test Institute (NOCTI)
Assessment before you receive your teaching certification.
d.
Submit a (non-refundable) personal check or money order,
payable to The University of
Texas at Tyler for $45.00 (no cash).
