Microphones
Instructor Microphone
The instructor microphone is
designed to be worn so that the instructor can move freely around
the room and still be heard in the classroom and at the remote
sites. The transmitter has a belt clip so that it can be attached
to the instructor's belt or pocket. The microphone has an alligator
clip so that it can be clipped on the instructor's shirt or jacket.
The power switch for the microphone is located on the top of the
transmitter. It must be in the on position for students to hear the
instructor at the remote sites.
Student
Microphone
The student microphones are
located on the student tables. There is one microphone for every
two students. These microphones allow for communication between the
remote sites and the host site. In order for the students to be
heard at all locations, they must press and hold the Touch button on
the microphone while speaking.

Document Camera
The document camera is located
on the left-hand side of the podium. It allows instructors to
project objects or documents for the students to view.


Computer

The CPU is located on the right,
inside of the teaching podium. The computer allows the instructor
to demonstrate websites and broadcast PowerPoint or other teaching
platforms.

VCR
The VCR is used to play
educational materials. The videos will be displayed to all
locations involved in the class. The VCR is located directly below
the computer.


Projection Screens
There
are two projection screens mounted to the walls in the front of the
classroom. The screens can show any of the video sources (i.e.
remote sites, host site, computer, document camera, VCR or laptop).

T.V.
Monitors
There are two Television
monitors located in the back of the room.
These allow the instructor
to view the active remote location as well as see what is being sent
out to the remote locations.

Cameras
Instructor Camera

The instructor camera is
located in the back of the room near the TV monitors. This camera
allows the instructor to be seen at the remote sites.
Student
Cameras
There are three cameras used to
view the students at the Tyler location. One camera is used to view
the entire classroom. This camera is located on the front wall off
to the side. The other two cameras are for zooming in on students
when they are speaking. These two cameras are located on the front
wall in the center.

Touch Panel
The Touch Panel is located on
the top of the instructor podium. All of the video switching is
performed on this device. Two preview monitors on located on the
right-hand side of the Touch Panel. By touching the PC Full Screen
Preview button (which is located in the lower right corner of the
Touch Panel) the Touch Panel becomes the computer monitor.

Main
Menu Touch Panel Operation:

To learn the functions
of each touch panel option, click on a section area to obtain more
information.
The Main
Menu screen is the primary control screen. It is divided into seven
sections: Instructor Camera Operation, Instructor Camera
Auto Tracking, Menus, Video Source Select, Volume
Control, , Preview Selection, and two Video Windows.
Instructor
Camera Operation:
Camera Function:
The first section of
the Main Menu controls the pan, tilt, and zoom functions of the
Instructor Camera. Notice that the Time and Date are also visible on
the main menu for your convenience. If you select the Instructor
Camera: the pan, tilt, and zoom function will move only the
instructor camera.
Presets:
You can
also set camera Presets in the Camera Settings menu. There are four
presets you may set for the instructor camera.
To set
presets for the instructor camera:

Instructor Camera
Auto Tracking:

1. Select
the instructor camera on the Video Source Select menu.
2. Next,
Press the Auto Tracking Set-up button.
3. Press
the On/Off button. The screen displays some text that shows the mode
number and a white frame. The values number at the top right of the
screen should be constantly changing. The higher the value, the
better the track. Values of 40 or above work well.
4. Use the
arrow and zoom keys to frame the subject. Notice that the Value
Number changes as the frame moves.
5. Press
the Start/Stop button when the Value Number reaches 40 or so.
The screen now displays the AT working mode. It is normal for the
frame to move around.
6. Press
the Chase Mode button to switch between Chase 1, 2 or 3.
(We recommend using Chase 2 or 3. Chase 2 always keeps the subject
in the center of the screen. However, Chase 3 keeps the subject on
the screen.)
7. To
remove the frame from the screen display, press the Frame Display
button. To remove the text from the screen display, press the
Data Screen button.

Menus:
Lighting:

The room
lighting can can be controlled from the touch panel. For example, if
the instructor was showing a video all of the lights could easily be
turned off.
Projector Screen Displays:

This button allows the
instructor or technician to change what the students in the Tyler
room are seeing on the projector screens.

Video Source:
There are eight video
source selections that may be transmitted to the remote site
locations. (Note: only one video source is transmitted at a time
from each location during a conference. However, you may change any
video source to send at any time during the conference.) When you
select a video source, your selection is transmitted automatically
to the remote site locations. (There is not a second step when
making selections.)
Select the Instructor
Camera button when you want the remote site locations to see the
instructor lecturing if he or she is originating from your location.
- The Instructor
Camera is mounted in the back of the classroom facing the
instructor. The camera is usually mounted near the TV monitor
that the instructor views the remote site locations during class
lecture and discussion.
- The position of
the instructor camera helps students at the remote site
locations feel that the instructor is making eye contact with
them regardless of the distance.
Select the Student
Camera #1, #2, or wide button when you want the remote site
locations to see the students in the classroom.
- The Student Camera
is located in the front of the classroom facing the students.
The camera is mounted between the projector screens, where
students view the video source that the instructor is
transmitting from his or her location (i.e., instructor camera,
student camera, graphics displayed on the document camera,
PowerPoint presentations displayed from the computer, class
material presented on the white board, etc.).
- The position of
the student camera helps the instructor feel that the remote
site students are making eye contact with him or her during
class lecture and discussion.
Document Camera:
Select the Doc Cam
button when you would like to show graphics or objects on the
document camera.

Controls for the document camera are not located on the touch
panel. You must make adjustments (i.e., zoom in, zoom out, etc.)
by using the buttons provided on the document camera.

Make
sure that the Auto Focus is enabled.
Computer
Select the PC button
when you would like students to see your computer presentation
displayed in the classroom and at the remote site locations.
VCR
When you select the VCR
button, a pop-up menu (below) will be displayed. The pop-up menu
allows you to operate the VCR from the touch panel.
- You operate the
VCR the same as you would your VCR at home. All that you need to
do manually on the VCR is insert or eject the VCR tape. You do
not need to make any adjustments on the VCR to play a video.
- After you are
finished using the VCR Menu, touch the Exit button to return to
the Main Menu.
Laptop:
Select
the Laptop button when a laptop computer is connected to the cables
on the instructor podium.

Volume
Control:
The
receive audio and the room audio sources (i.e., VCR, PC, laptop) are
adjusted by using the Volume Control. "Room" volume is specific
here. Raising or lowering the audio in your classroom does not raise
or lower the audio to the remote sites. The audio sent from your
classroom is set and remote site locations make volume adjustments
in their classroom.

Preview Selection
Menu:

The
instructor can use these buttons to preview the above sources
prior to sending the information to the remote locations. The
video source will become full screen on the touch panel. When the
instructor is finished viewing the selection they may return to the
main menu by just tapping the touch panel.
