A member of the renowned University of Texas System, The University of Texas at Tyler carries a proud tradition of high quality students and academic opportunities. Located on 200 acres, UT Tyler is a safe university with a park-like setting of lush trees and wild life. The campus consists of 14 modern buildings arranged around two lakes.
One of the state’s fastest growing universities, UT Tyler provides the individual opportunity you would only expect at a small private university – without private university tuition expenses. We are attracting excellent students who often out-perform graduates from all other Texas public universities on state licensing exams in engineering, nursing and education.
Four professional colleges and one traditional college of arts and sciences comprise UT Tyler’s academic structure. The five colleges offer over more than 90 academic degrees and their students represent 45 nations, 35 states and 131 counties.
The University offers strong, exciting NCAA athletic programs for athletes who are very capable students first. Indeed, UT Tyler’s dedicated student athletes usually have a higher grade point ratio than the student body as a whole. In addition, UT Tyler’s student athletes perform on first-rate athletic fields and facilities that are among the very finest in Texas.
Dedicated to providing students a well-rounded educational experience, the University is devoted to giving students excellent public service opportunities to help others. UT Tyler students have raised significant donations for the local food bank, helped build houses for Habitat for Humanity and raised funds for Relay for Life and Amnesty International, just to name a few.
The University’s R. Don Cowan Fine and Performing Arts Center exemplifies UT Tyler’s position as the cultural center of East Texas. The Cowan Center brings to campus world-class speakers and entertainment such as former Israeli prime minister Shimon Peres and moon walker Buzz Aldrin, as well as Broadway musicals like 42nd Street and Cats. Each year, 26,000 patrons enjoy the performing arts at UT Tyler’s Cowan Center.
UT Tyler acts as the engine for economic development for the East Texas region by conducting over $4 million in research annually and adding $208.2 million and 1,913 permanent jobs to the city of Tyler. UT Tyler has graduated four of every 10 professional nurses in East Texas, and one out of every five schoolchildren in East Texas’ public and private schools encounters a UT Tyler graduate serving in teaching and administrative roles.
