Subchapter 10-300. Supplemental Instruction (SI) Program
Sec. 10.301. SI Leaders
a. General Description of Duties
SI leaders are successful current or recent graduate students who have demonstrated mastery in designated historically-difficult courses within the SI program. SI leaders facilitate group sessions where study skills and successful strategies are shared with students currently enrolled in designated historically-difficult courses at the university. Due to the leadership nature of these positions, it is crucial that SI leaders conduct themselves as model students and follow the ethical standards set out for them through the mandatory SI Leader training.
b. SI Leader Selection and Training
SI leaders are selected through an extensive recommendation and interview process involving the administrator, faculty members, and other university staff members as needed. Mandatory training is provided prior to the beginning of each semester for leaders employed for that semester.
c. SI Leader Compensation
SI leaders are compensated according to published hourly rates for required weekly duties as well as mandatory training sessions. SI leaders work approximately 10 hours per week during the semester after completing 16-10 hours or training prior to the beginning of the semester.
