Michael Millett is instructor of trombone at UT Tyler, and also serves as director of the Academic Advising Center for the College of Arts and Sciences. As a trombonist, Dr Millett has performed with the Middletown Symphony Orchestra, and with ensembles at Xavier University and Northern Kentucky University . As a soloist, he has performed with the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra, with the Stivers School for the Arts Wind Ensemble, and with the Colonel High School for the Arts Wind Ensemble. He has taught low brass at the Dayton Arts Magnet Schools, at Sinclair College , and previously at UT Tyler. He has been an adjudicator for the Ohio All-State Orchestra, and directed sectional rehearsals.

 

As an arranger, Dr Millett was the orchestrator for composer Dr Harley Flack, the late president of Wright State University. As a composer, Dr Millett's music has been performed throughout Ohio , Michigan , and Texas . His solo composition for vibraphone is published worldwide by Theodore Presser, Inc. He has served as adjudicator for several composition contests.

 

As a music theorist, Dr Millett has taught at the Dayton Arts Magnet Schools , Sinclair College, Michigan State University, the Preparatory School at Michigan State University, and at UT Tyler. Many of his former students are now professional performers and professors in their own right.

 

Dr Millett earned the Doctor of Music degree in composition from Michigan State University, and Bachelors and Masters degrees from The University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.
