The Cowan Center houses the Music
Department and
components of Art and Theatre. In addition to its
performance facilities, it includes office, classroom, studio, and rehearsal
spaces. |

Vaughn Auditorium
Vaughn Auditorium
comfortably seats 2,000 patrons in a
warm acoustical environment. As
an ensemble member, you perform upon a large, well-equipped
stage. The orchestra pit floor, visible at lower right in this image, may be raised hydraulically for
concert use, or lowered for musical theatre productions.
Vaughn also hosts many touring productions of high caliber, and
hosts general University functions, including commencement exercises. |

Braithwaite Recital Hall
Braithwaite Hall is the venue for solo recitals
and small chamber performances. It seats 161 patrons in three
sections, with ample access for those with physical disabilities. The
Music Department's Steinway concert grand piano, hand selected in New York by our faculty, resides on the stage for solo and accompanying
work. A second Steinway is also available for duo-piano and concerto work.
The hall is trimmed in beautiful
coffered oak panels, which
provide an elegant performance atmosphere and an admirable
acoustic. Computer-controlled lighting and state-of-the-art
digital sound recording equipment complete the Music Department's prime
performance area. |
