UT Tyler Music Performances
Spring, 2008


The Music Department cordially welcomes you to its Spring, 2008 series of student, faculty, and guest artist performances.  Unless noted below, events take place in the R. Don Cowan Fine and Performing Arts Center on the UT Tyler campus and are free of charge.  

Vaughn Auditorium entrances are located on the east end of the Cowan Center, facing Old Omen Road.  Braithwaite Recital Hall entrances face the west, near the Ratliff Engineering and Sciences Building.

Sunday, March 2, 2008, 4:00 P.M.
UT Tyler Chorale with the Tyler Chamber Chorale
UT Tyler singers under Dr. John Petzet join with community singers of the Tyler Chamber Chorale under the direction of
Donald Duncan for an afternoon of fine choral music.  The Tyler Chamber Chorale will perform Henry Purcell's Dido and Aeneas, featuring UT Tyler professors of voice, Drs. Mark and Molly Johnson.  The UT Tyler Chorale will perform the Schubert Mass in G Major featuring student and faculty soloists.  Both choirs will combine for works by Beethoven and Mendelssohn.  General admission is $10.00, student tickets are $5.00.

UT Tyler Patriot Singers
UT Tyler's premier choral ensemble performs French, English, and Italian madrigals, American and Hungarian
folk songs, and Broadway show tunes, plus works by Moses Hogan and William Billings.

Thursday, March 6, 2008, 7:30 P.M.
UT Tyler Wind Ensemble with the Tyler Junior College Wind Ensemble
A collaborative performance featuring the UT Tyler Wind Ensemble under the direction of Dr. Jeffrey Emge
and the TJC Wind Ensemble under the direction of Thomas Mensch. UT Tyler repertoire will include Suite Provençale
by Jan Van der Roost, Don Ricardo by Gabriel Musella, Dance Variations by John Zdechlik, and
Cajun Folk Songs II by Frank Ticheli. Both wind ensembles will join forces to perform the finale from
Shostakovich's Symphony No. 5.
