In The Spotlight

Dr. Michael E. Eidenmuller, assistant professor of communication, has developed two Web pages for use by the UT Tyler community:

The Online Speech Bank Web page contains 245 links to Internet sites with full text, audio and video (streaming) versions of public speeches, sermons, legal proceedings, lectures, debates, interviews and other recorded media events. Total volume of full text artifacts indexed by the page approaches 10,000. The page can be accessed at http://www.uttyler.edu/meidenmuller/speechbank.htm

Rhetorical Figures in Sound is an ongoing joint faculty-student production Web page containing mp3 audio illustrations of various figures of speech. The page operates in conjunction with the University of Kentucky's Online Glossary of Rhetorical Terms. It currently contains some 120 audio illustrations drawn from the rhetorical genres of politics, literature, religion and popular culture. There are also a number of clips taken from sound recordings of the Bible. Real Audio or compatible digital-audio player required (Winamp, Windows Media Player, etc.). The page provides a fun learning experience, fills a gap in the existing I-net scholarly offerings and takes advantage of current I-net technology available to the vast majority of users. The page may be accesssed http://www.uttyler.edu/meidenmuller/rhetoricaldevicesinsound.htm.
