Appreciation Week April 22-26
President
Rodney Mabry has declared April 22-26 the Fourth Annual Employee
Appreciation Week in recognition of the dedication and hard
work of all UT Tyler employees.
The University Staff Advisory Council will sponsor the event,
with afternoon activities on and off campus Monday through
Thursday.
The fun
will continue on Friday, April 26th, with a barbecue lunch
for employees and their families on the lakeside terrace behind
the University Center. Lunch will begin at 11:30 a.m. with
the presentation of service awards beginning at 12:30 p.m.
This year's theme is "Team Spirit." The USAC encourages
everyone to dress comfortably Friday in their favorite athletic/sportswear
attire.

Alan
J. Thomas of Tyler, a graduate student at The University
of Texas at Tyler, has been elected vice chairman of The
University of Texas System Student Advisory Council, Dr.
Dale Lunsford, UT Tyler vice president for student affairs
and external relations, has announced.

Computer
Science Receives Grant for Infinity Project
The UT
Tyler computer science department has received a grant for
deployment of the Infinity Project, which is designed to interest
high school students in pursuing careers in computer science
and engineering.
The Texas
Engineering and Technical Consortium has granted $23,934 as
the current award to UT Tyler and $44,400 as a potential award.
The award is one of several higher education grants totaling
$4.5 million, allocated to universities to attract more Texans

responses have been received and are under evaluation for
construction of an 85-space, lighted parking lot.

been executed with an architect. Construction bid speculations
