Construction Updates
Health and
Kinesiology Physical Education Building - Continue grade beams
at grid lines "A" and "B"; start grade beams
along grid line "8." Also, continue pier caps at grid
lines "G" and "H"; start pier caps with anchor
bolts at grid lines "L", "M" and "N";
continue lower level 16'-0" wall down grid line "11";
start long pier cap at grid line "9-A"; continue lowering
of primary power, telephone and EMCS required for change at tennis
court; start duct bank for primary power from existing source to
Health & Kinesiology Building; continue activities at Central
Plant building on pipe supports and piping; continue underground
rough-in of soil piping for roof leaders.
College of
Nursing and Health Sciences Building - Construction work began
in May. Projected completion date: July 2003.
Residence
Hall - The architect selected for the design of the residence
house is Simon Burch Clark & Merris (SBCM) of Tyler. The 11,000-square-foot
facility on Lake Drive will have the capacity to house 36-40 students.
Projected completion date: August 2003.
Longview
University Center parking lot - A contract has been executed
with RPR Construction to build an 85-space, lighted parking lot.
Work expected to begin during July. The project includes landscaping,
irrigation and sidewalks.
Longview
University Center monument signs - An agreement has been executed
with an architect. Construction specifications are being prepared
for request for proposal. There will be two monument signs, one
on each side of the entrance to the Longview campus. Each sign will
be 6 feet tall and 100 feet in length.

A large
crane lifts and sets steel support beams into place at the Health
and Kinesiology Physical Education Building construction site
in mid-June. The smaller crane is pouring concrete.
