Summer Commencement Recognizes 192 Candidates

UT Tyler recognized 192 degree candidates during summer commencement Aug. 9 at the Cowan Center.

Commencement remarks were given by Dr. Virginia Beidelman, immediate past president of the UT Tyler Faculty Senate.

Dr. Rodney Mabry, UT Tyler president, certified degree candidates and A.W. Riter Jr., vice chairman, UT System Board of Regents, conferred degrees.

Presentation of degree candidates was by Dr. David H. O'Keeffe, provost and vice president for academic affairs; and by the representatives of each of the university's colleges: Dr. Donna L. Dickerson, dean, College of Arts and Sciences; Dr. Jim Tarter, dean, College of Business and Technology; Dr. J. Milford Clark, dean, College of Education and Psychology; Dr. Troy F. Henson, dean, College of Engineering and Computer Science; and Dr. Pamela Martin, assistant dean, College of Nursing and Health Sciences.

Dr. Robert H. Cranford, senior faculty member, was the macebearer. Music was provided by the UT Tyler Wind Ensemble, conducted by Dr. Jeff Emge. The Rev. Ron Byrd, pastor of University Christian Church, gave the invocation and benediction. Penny B. Urwiller gave the alumni association presentation.
