University Hires New Special Events
Manager/Alumni Coordinator
Dana
R. Khan has joined UT Tyler as special events manager/alumni coordinator
in the Office of University Advancement.
Her responsibilities
include planning and carrying out university functions and special
events in a variety of on- and off-campus venues including fund-raising
dinners and programs conducted for the university on behalf of the
president.
She also will
coordinate activities for the growing UT Tyler Alumni Association,
working to maintain a strong functional relationship between the
association, the university community and the alumni board and executive
committee, and developing alumni-related programs to increase membership.
The Tyler resident
has served as a public relations representative with Marathon Oil
Co. and managed political campaigns for regional candidates. Additionally,
she was owner/president of Grand Moments, an event planning company.
Khan holds a
bachelor of business administration degree in accounting from Northeast
Louisiana University. She is a certified professional event planner.
Her community
involvement has included serving as a loaned executive for United
Way and helping with fund-raising activities for the Heart of Tyler,
American Cancer Society, T.K. Gorman High School and the Natural
Gas Society of East Texas. She has coordinated many dinners, golf
tournaments and charity and political fund-raisers.
She is a member
of the Women in Tyler Committee and serves as secretary for the
Cedars of Lebanon Club.
Khan and her
husband, Charles, have three children, Charles, 24, Crystal, 19,
and Lindsey, 17.
