Computer Science to Receive Funding
for Research
UT
Tyler has been selected by the Computer Research Association to
receive funding for a Collaborative Research Environment for Women
in Undergraduate Computer Science and Engineering project, Dr. Troy
Henson, dean of the College of Engineering and Computer Science,
has announced.
The computer
science department will receive $2,250 for the project "Case-based
Reasoning: Rough Sets vs. Bayesian Networks.'' The UT Tyler project
was judged to be one of the best 19 of the 41 projects submitted
for consideration this year.
CREW is designed
to provide collaborative research experiences for groups of two
to three undergraduate women during the academic year. The program
is sponsored by the CRA Committee on the Status of Women in Research.
Funding is provided by the National Science Foundation Partnership
for Advanced Computational Infrastructure's Education, Outreach
and Training program and USENIX, the Advanced Computing Systems
Association.
