Computer Science to Receive Funding for Research

UT Tyler has been selected by the Computer Research Association to receive funding for a Collaborative Research Environment for Women in Undergraduate Computer Science and Engineering project, Dr. Troy Henson, dean of the College of Engineering and Computer Science, has announced.

The computer science department will receive $2,250 for the project "Case-based Reasoning: Rough Sets vs. Bayesian Networks.'' The UT Tyler project was judged to be one of the best 19 of the 41 projects submitted for consideration this year.

CREW is designed to provide collaborative research experiences for groups of two to three undergraduate women during the academic year. The program is sponsored by the CRA Committee on the Status of Women in Research. Funding is provided by the National Science Foundation Partnership for Advanced Computational Infrastructure's Education, Outreach and Training program and USENIX, the Advanced Computing Systems Association.
