Dobrowalski to Serve as Assistant Tennis
Coach
Jay
Dobrowalski has accepted the position of assistant tennis coach
at UT Tyler.
Dobrowalski
is a veteran of open tournaments throughout California, most notably
the Ojai and Mammoth Open. He played league tennis with the U.S.
Tennis Association and was undefeated for three years. Dobrowalski
is certified with the U.S. Professional Tennis Association and has
taught tennis for several years, including summer tennis camps.
He has worked at the Mercedes Benz Cup in Los Angeles and currently
works at the U.S. Open, the largest tennis event in the world.
His career in
tennis began in high school. He played varsity for four years and
was named Most Valuable Player three years. He was a student leader
at the University of California at Los Angeles, where he went to
focus on academics. He played against collegiate team members, registering
wins at the University of California at Santa Cruz, California Polytechnic
University, California Lutheran University, University of California
at San Diego, New York University, UCLA and Santa Barbara City College.
Dobrowalski also was ranked among the top three skiers on the UCLA
ski team.
He holds a degree
in political science from UCLA and will receive an academic scholarship
to UT Tyler to study public administration. In addition to tennis,
he enjoys running, baseball, skiing and theatre.
Dobrowalski
will join the UT Tyler team after completing his responsibilities
at the 2002 U.S. Open.
