Patriot Tennis Team Wins Dual Meet Against Le Tourneau

The UT Tyler Patriot Tennis team won all tennis matches in its first dual meet of the year against Le Tourneau University Jan. 26.

UT Tyler is currently competing as an "independent school" pending NCAA membership. Le Tourneau competes in the American Southwest Conference NCAA Division 3.

"The team played extremely well for the first match of the year,'' said Patriots Coach Kenneth Olivier. "They have a good team and we had to play well to beat them."

UT Tyler Vs. Howard Payne University
The Patriot women netters defeated Howard Payne University in Abilene Feb. 9-10. The Patriots scored a 3-1 victory with Stephanie Hughes winning the deciding match 6-0, 7-5 over Kristen Bond. Other winners were: April Bancod and Karoline Jacobs.

The Patriot men netters lost a close match (4-3). Individual winning for the men were: Maciek Hunek, Bryan Whitt, and Justin Duke.

UT Tyler Beats McMurry University
The men won 4-3 in a close match against McMurray during the Feb. 9 weekend in Abilene. The women won all four matches.

Upcoming Matches
UT Tyler will play Hendricks College in Arkansas Feb. 23-24. The Patriots will host Le Tourneau at UT Tyler on March 28. The match will begin at 4 p.m. at the Summers Tennis Center.
