Engineers
Week Banquet to be Held Feb. 21 in Kilgore
The Annual National
Engineers Week (East Texas) Banquet is scheduled for 6-9 p.m. Thursday,
Feb. 21, in the Student Center Ballroom at Kilgore College.
Reservation
cards are available in the College of Engineering and Computer Science
dean's office (ENG 101) until Feb. 14. Contact Sherry Rhodes at
Ext. 7040.
The banquet
speaker will be Doug Ashcraft, PE, SE, a principal and stockholder
with Walter P. Moore and Associates in Houston. Ashcraft will speak
on the design and construction of Enron Field, the new home of the
Astros.
UT Tyler will
have a table/exhibit with information available on the university's
engineering and computer science programs for prospective students
and their families, teachers and counselors. More than 100 high
school students, teachers and counselors attend the banquet free,
as guests of businesses and technical societies in East Texas.
National Engineers
Week (www.eweek.org), which will be observed Feb. 17-23, is an annual
celebration focusing on sharing the importance of engineering with
young people. The National Society of Professional Engineers founded
the program in 1951.
