Graduate Student to Compete in Geographic Information Contest

UT Tyler graduate student Nikki King has been selected to participate in the student competition of the 12th Annual South Central Arc User Group Conference, to be held Feb. 16-22 in Fort Worth.

King, a student in the master of public administration degree program, is one of six graduate students chosen from a five-state area to compete for the Best Graduate Student Presentation award.

The Longview resident will present "ArcView Applications for Zoning,'' her final project in the Geographic Information Systems course she took in the fall. The project compares traditional methods of processing a zoning change request to that of an ArcView-based method.

SCAUG is an organization dedicated to the benefit of users of Environmental Systems Research Institute's Geographic Information software in Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, Mississippi, Puerto Rico and the Cayman Islands.
