Mark Yudof Named Sole Finalist for U.T. System Chancellor

Mark G. Yudof

Mark G. Yudof, president of the University of Minnesota and a former administrator at The University of Texas at Austin, was named as the sole finalist for chancellor of the U.T. System May 31.

Yudof was selected by the U.T. System Board of Regents during a special meeting by telephone conference call. State law requires that finalists for the position of chancellor be named by a board of regents at least 21 days before a final decision. The regents will meet again on June 21 to make the final decision. More>>>

IntercomOnline Announces Summer Publication Schedule

The IntercomOnline will be published monthly this summer. The newsletter will be published on the first Monday of each month until the beginning of the fall semester, when it will resume its regular, weekly publication schedule.

University Launches Web Cam at HKPE Construction Site

UT Tyler has launched its first Web Cam on campus, at the construction site of the Health and Kinesiology Physical Education Complex.

An up-to-date picture can be seen of the construction site. Other Web Cams are planned for future construction sites and other areas on campus.

The Web Cam can be seen by going to the front page of the UT Tyler Web site at www.uttyler.edu or the athletics Web page.

Service Recognition

Lynne Bandy, benefits manager, Human Resources, is recognized for 25 years of continuous service at the university on June 27. Recognized for 20 years of continuous service is Van Howard, building maintenance supervisor, Physical Plant, on June 7; and Donna S. Roberson, computer operator, Information Resources, on June 21. Recognized for five years of continuous service is Gregory W. Mekalip, financial analyst, on June 2; and Donald L. Goddard, assistant professor, College of Engineering and Computer Science, on June 10.

UT Tyler Accepts Invitation to Join American Southwest Conference

The University of Texas at Tyler has accepted an invitation to join the NCAA Division III American Southwest Conference, effective Aug. 1, 2003. The announcement of UT Tyler's conference acceptance was made by ASC Council of Presidents chair Dr. Oscar Page of Austin College and league commissioner Fred Jacoby.

UT Tyler will begin Conference affiliation in the 2003-04 academic year as a provisional NCAA Division III member. More>>>

UT Tyler Announces President's Honor Roll, Dean's List

UT Tyler has named 148 students to the President's Honor Roll and 180 students to the Dean's List for the 2002 spring semester.

To be named to the President's Honor Roll at UT Tyler, a student must have completed, in one semester, 12 or more semester credit hours with grades of "A" in all courses that carry grade points.

To be named to the Dean's List at UT Tyler, a student must have completed at least nine semester credit hours at the university with a grade point average of 3.7 or above. Follow this link for Deans List >>>

Construction Updates

Health and Kinesiology Physical Education Building - Work in progress includes grade beams, pier caps; lowering of primary power, telephone and EMCS; and underground rough-in of soil piping for roof leaders. Projected completion date: late 2003.

College of Nursing and Health Sciences Building - Construction work began during the week of May 13. Projected completion date: July 2003.

Residence Hall - Architect being sought for construction of 11,000-square-foot facility on Lake Drive with the capacity to house 36-40 students. Projected completion date: August 2003.

Longview University Center parking lot - Request for proposal responses have been received and are under evaluation for construction of an 85-space, lighted parking lot. The project includes landscaping, irrigation and sidewalks.

Longview University Center monument signs - An agreement has been executed with an architect. Construction specifications are being prepared for request for proposal.
